Camping (locked to Joe, backdated to Sept 29th)

Seeing as how he and Neil had been fighting about damn near everything all week, Logan had been more than a little eager to go camping with Joe by the time Saturday morning rolled around. So eager, in fact, that he'd already been to the compound to find a sleeping bag in the clothes box (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle themed no less), and had packed his make-shift bag before Joe had even come to find him.

For once Logan was ahead of the game, knocking on Joe's door to see if he was ready.

God, he'd never thought he'd be so eager to stare at trees for nearly forty-something hours.

"Hey, you ready?" he asked, knocking once and then pushing the door open a crack. "I grabbed some food for us to take or whatever... so, uh, I'm ready to go when you are man."

"Yeah, okay, Uh, how about I go get wood, you set up our sleeping bags and stuff?" Logan suggested, getting to his feet.

"Sure," Joe said, climbing to his feet as well. "Don't, uh... don't go too far. Don't know what kinda shit there is up here, you know?"

"Worried I might eaten Joe?" Logan smirked, grinning deviously as he ducked off into the trees to grab the wood he'd promised to fetch.

"I am, fucker," Joe said with a snort, rolling his eyes affectionately as Logan went off the get the wood. He worked quickly, getting the sleeping bags unrolled and set out, then grabbed some of the food, putting it all together.

Logan returned a few minutes later, his arms full of dry wood and broken branches. He dropped them into a careless pile a little ways away from the bags.

"Look, ma, still got all my limbs," he said, holding up his hands and wiggling his fingers.

"Hardee fucking hah, asshole," Joe muttered, but he was smiling faintly as he set stones in a circle to make a pit for the fire. And he'd never really known how to build a fire before the island, but being here now had changed that.

Sitting down on his sleeping bag, Logan watched Joe with a grin. He felt better than he had in days and days.

"You got a lighter or anything?" Joe asked, glancing over at Logan curiously. "Matches? I got some in my bag, I think."

Logan dug around on his pockets for a minute, and then slipped out a small plastic lighter that he'd taken off Neil ages ago. he tossed it lightly to Joe, and toed off his muddy shoes so he could get a little more comfortable.

"What sort of animals do you think are out here?" he asked curiously.

Shrugging, Joe set about lighting the fire, then looked over at Logan. "I dunno, man. Bears? Or maybe fucking tigers or something. Has anyone seen any shit like that? I know we got those wild boars, but they're not exactly scary."

"They are when they run at you," Logan argued, pulling a face and glancing around.

Joe snorted softly as he got the fire going and looked over at Logan again. "Yeah? So should I put myself between you and any wild boar?"

"I'd suggest making a run for it," Logan laughed, waiting for Joe to turn his attention back to the fire and then stealthily moving his bag a little closer to Joe's.

Not that he really thought there were bears or anything...

When Joe turned back, if he noticed that Logan's sleeping bag was closer, he didn't say anything. He just said, "We got fire. Which means we can cook food and won't fucking starve. This camping shit isn't so hard, after all."

"Yeah, it's easy enough," Logan agreed. "You want to eat now? Or, uh, later, since it's still early and all."

Joe shrugged and said, "Not too hungry yet." He still wasn't often that hungry, especially not when Bucky was around, but Logan didn't need to know that.

"Me either, man," Logan shrugged, flopping onto his back and staring up into the sky. "It's nice out here. Quiet."

"No one around for fucking miles," Joe agreed, although he didn't think it was really that far. "Makes you wonder why more people don't live all the way out here, eh?"

"You don't have to live in the middle of nowhere to feel totally alone, I guess," Logan replied, letting himself just enjoy the way it felt to get away from island life.

"But some people like living in the middle of nowhere," Joe pointed out, shrugging a bit. "I mean, Dale's hut is off the beaten fucking path enough."

"Yeah, I'd noticed," Logan replied. "What's up with that anyway?"

Joe shrugged a little and said, "He likes it, I guess. Nice fucking hut, anyway, and he's always kinda been like that. On his own."

"But now he's got you," Logan said.

"Yeah, but he still likes his privacy," Joe said. "He goes for runs on his own all the fucking time." Although that was mostly because Joe didn't want to go for a run.

"I guess I can understand that... Still, what do you want, Joe? Do you want to be closer to him?" Logan asked.
