Camping (locked to Joe, backdated to Sept 29th)

Seeing as how he and Neil had been fighting about damn near everything all week, Logan had been more than a little eager to go camping with Joe by the time Saturday morning rolled around. So eager, in fact, that he'd already been to the compound to find a sleeping bag in the clothes box (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle themed no less), and had packed his make-shift bag before Joe had even come to find him.

For once Logan was ahead of the game, knocking on Joe's door to see if he was ready.

God, he'd never thought he'd be so eager to stare at trees for nearly forty-something hours.

"Hey, you ready?" he asked, knocking once and then pushing the door open a crack. "I grabbed some food for us to take or whatever... so, uh, I'm ready to go when you are man."

"Just you fucking wait," Joe said again. "Of course, when you're old enough to break a hip, I'll be fucking ancient."

"I don't think I'll make it to an age where I'll be breaking hips. I don't think I was really built to last, you know?" Logan said honestly, deciding that the whole point of their trip was to talk about stuff they wouldn't usually talk about.

"Yeah, I used to think the same thing, too," Joe admitted. And yet here he was, coming up on his thirty-seventh birthday. "How come you think that?"

"Dunno," Logan admitted. "I guess... it's like I have this clock in my head, and I keep waiting for it to just... stop.

"Got any age in mind or are you just waiting it out?" Joe asked. He wasn't trying to be an asshole, it was a genuine question. The way he'd seen it happen, people were sometimes right about shit like that.

"Twenty-five," Logan answered easily. "On my birthday maybe. It'll just end."

"Got a couple years ahead of you, then," Joe pointed out. "And maybe by the time you get there, that number'll change." Because he sure as hell wasn't looking forward to just losing Logan one day.

"Yeah, maybe," Logan agreed, though he didn't sound sure.

"You can't know, man. I mean, you can have a feeling, but you never know for sure," Joe said. "I thought I'd be dead by thirty and it took me another few years to get there. And even then I went fucking here."

"We don;t have to talk about it if it makes you uneasy, Joe," Logan said quietly.

"Nah, man, it's fine. I'm just... talking, I guess," he said, shrugging a little bit. "Just... don't wanna think about you going anywhere."

"Got a few years left in me yet," Logan said with a small smile.

"Long as we got that," Joe agreed, grinning in return. "Maybe in that time shit will change." He wasn't sure why he kept insisting that.

"Yeah, maybe," Logan agreed, mostly to make Joe feel better. He wasn't sure something he'd been feeling forever would just fade away.

"Never know," Joe said, his eyes closing again as he stretched out. "I wouldn't mind being stuck here until I was too fucking old to walk."

"Yeah? You planning on getting old with Dale?" Logan asked curiously, turning his attention back to the fire.

"Better than the alternative, yeah?" Joe asked, still relaxed against his sleeping bag. And it was a hell of a lot better than growing old and fucking creaky on his own.

"As long as that's not the only reason you want it," Logan agreed.

Joe shook his head, because it sure as hell wasn't the only reason. "Nah, man. It's good. A good thought, I mean."

"Good," Logan said simply, smiling just slightly as he turned his head to look at Joe again.

"I'm fucking hungry," Joe decided after a moment, because that sandwich hadn't really cut it. And maybe it was the mountain air, because it had been a long time since he'd been truly and genuinely hungry.

"Don't look at me, I'm sure I don't taste that great," Logan snorted softly. "But, uh, there's fruit and stuff in my bag."

"Yeah, I got some, too." But he was really fucking lazy and he grunted, trying to hook his bag with his foot.

"Lazy bastard," Logan snorted sitting up and grabbing the bag. He tossed it lightly at Joe and lay back down, yawning a little and stretching.

"Yeah, you got that right," Joe agreed with a smirk, letting out a soft noise when the bag hit his stomach. But he opened it anyway and grabbed some fruit, offering some kind of berry thing to Logan.
