Vampire AU Prequel

Logan didn't do bars, not often any way. Too many people, too much going on... too many girls sniffing for money rather than love. Usually he hated it, but tonight...

Tonight he just needed to get out, to have a few drinks and enjoy the city of LA for what it was. Mindless, soulless, and empty. Really, the more he dwelled on it the more Logan was sure those were exactly the sort of qualities he'd been looking for in home, and he grinned as he polished off his drink and left enough cash on the bar for tip and his tab.

Ignoring the many writhing and twisting bodies on the dance floor, Logan made his way to the exit, ready to head home for the night. Passing the pool table, he pushed open the door and stepped into the night. The streets were busy, but he didn't mind, he'd cut through the alleyway and take a shortcut home.

The lamp light flickered as he stepped into the darkened ally, blinking out just as he headed into the shadows. It was alright though, he wasn't scared, he wasn't some sweet sixteen princess with her virtue to worry about... Logan was tough. He was eighteen now, and he had no fear.

"What can I say, I'm curious. Besides, the bed will be here later..." Logan grinned.

"The bed will always be here," Joe agreed, lacing his boots and then leaning back on his hands as he glanced over at the window. "Almost dark."

"Yeah," Logan said, slipping his own shoes on and fussing with the collar of his shirt, rumpling it a little. "Almost."

"Gotta look like you didn't try too hard?" Joe asked with a smirk as he watched Logan mess with his collar. The wrinklier his clothes were, the more he'd match Joe at this point.

"I am a natural beauty, the clothes should match," Logan smirked.

"Uh-huh," Joe replied with an amused snort of laughter, then leaned back on his arms, his boots taken care of. "Looks like you naturally rolled right outta bed."

"Fitting, seeing as how I sort of did," Logan smirked.

"You showered first," Joe pointed out, although that really wasn't an argument at all. "You ready to go? Need anything else?"

Grabbing his wallet, Logan shook his head. "No, I'm ready if you are, man," he smiled.

Joe stood again, brushing his jeans off, although they weren't dirty to begin with, then nodded at the door. "Let's get outta here."

Grinning, Logan led the way into the hall, heading for the elevator and pushing the down button to call it. "So, this place, what's it like?" he asked.

Joe shrugged a little, following Logan to the elevator and then standing against the wall. "Private. Not everyone is allowed in. Like any other club, I guess, but not as crowded."

"So, how can you be sure they'll let me in?" Logan asked curiously.

"You're with me," Joe answered simply and if he looked a little conceited in that moment, a little arrogant, it was because that was exactly what he was feeling.

Logan gave Joe a look of that and then grinned. "Lucky me then."

"Lucky you," Joe agreed, heading into the elevator when the doors slide open and then turning around to face Logan with a smirk.

"You're a smug bastard, you know that?" Logan asked.

"Yeah," Joe answered, because he did know it and he really didn't mind all that much. He'd been a smug bastard since he was a kid.

Logan was silent after that until they were outside, waiting for Joe to lead the way as he slid his hands into his pockets and rocked back on his heels.

"C'mon," Joe said, nodding in the direction they needed to go, then began to walk. It wasn't far from the place Logan was staying, but he walked quickly.

Logan followed, walking with casual grace as he fell into step beside Joe.

They walked in silence, Joe's hands shoved in his pockets and after about ten minutes they arrived at a discrete looking building, which Joe nodded at and then approached.

"This?" Logan asked, looking unimpressed.

"Fuck off," Joe replied as he headed up the walk and then banged on the door. It opened a second later and he nodded at the guy who'd let him in, gesturing for Logan to follow him. The inside was significantly different than the outside.

Logan seemed a little more impressed by the inside, sticking close to Joe as he looked around at all the bodies milling about.
