Vampire AU Prequel

Logan didn't do bars, not often any way. Too many people, too much going on... too many girls sniffing for money rather than love. Usually he hated it, but tonight...

Tonight he just needed to get out, to have a few drinks and enjoy the city of LA for what it was. Mindless, soulless, and empty. Really, the more he dwelled on it the more Logan was sure those were exactly the sort of qualities he'd been looking for in home, and he grinned as he polished off his drink and left enough cash on the bar for tip and his tab.

Ignoring the many writhing and twisting bodies on the dance floor, Logan made his way to the exit, ready to head home for the night. Passing the pool table, he pushed open the door and stepped into the night. The streets were busy, but he didn't mind, he'd cut through the alleyway and take a shortcut home.

The lamp light flickered as he stepped into the darkened ally, blinking out just as he headed into the shadows. It was alright though, he wasn't scared, he wasn't some sweet sixteen princess with her virtue to worry about... Logan was tough. He was eighteen now, and he had no fear.

"But he's dead," Logan murmured, getting up and looking at the man's limp and lifeless body. "He wanted me... I could smell it."

"Him and half the fucking population of this city," Joe answered, tugging the man's head to the side as he leaned in and sniffed at the heat of his neck.

"I was playing with him," Logan said, watching Joe and stepping closer. "I was enjoying him," he purred, pressing up against the other vamp's side.

"Maybe he was enjoying you a little too much," Joe answered, licking the dead man's throat, tasting the salt of his skin. "Maybe I don't fucking like it."

"Bastard," Logan accused, rubbing against Joe again with a little growl.

"Yeah, I'm a fucker," Joe agreed, pushing back against Logan. He held his gaze as he ducked his head, teeth cutting into the dead man's throat.

Logan watched as Joe drank from the dead man, reaching out to brush his fingers over the quickly cooling skin. "I'll have to find something else to do now..."

"You're a smart guy, you'll find something to do," Joe said with a smirk, dropping the body a moment later, wiping his lips with the back of his hand.

Kneeling down, Logan plucked the guy's wallet from his pocket, and began to flick through. He didn't need the money, but he took two hundred dollars in twenties anyway.

"Get all your money?" Joe asked with a grin, peering down at him as he rifled through the wallet. "He promised you at least two hundred dollars, but you're worth more."

"Don't see you trying to spend a dime on me," Logan pointed out, arching a brow and slipping out one more twenty. There wasn't much else left though, maybe sixty dollars, and he held out the wallet for Joe to take.

"You want me to tip you?" Joe asked with a smirk, taking the wallet and tossing it aside. He dug into his pocket and tugged out his own wallet. "You want to rifle through this and take what you need?"

"You could just buy me something," Logan smirked. "Something... nice."

He plucked the wallet out of Joe's hands anyway though, curious to see what he carried around.

"Like a diamond ring?" Joe asked dryly, kicking the body out of the way before he wandered over to the bed and sat down, watching Logan. He'd get rid of the guy later, he didn't feel like it now.

Pulling out Joe's drivers license, Logan sat down beside the other vamp. "Canada?" he asked, offering the wallet back. "And do I look like the kind of guy who wears diamonds?"

"Vancouver, yeah," Joe said with a nod, smiling over at Logan a little. "And if you don't want a fucking diamond, what kind of pretty thing are you looking for?"

"Dunno," Logan shrugged, giving Joe the license back. "Clothes maybe? A silver chain... Maybe something more creative. Surprise me."

"I'll find you something," Joe said with a nod and a small smile, tossing the license over onto the bedside table. "Find you something real fucking nice."

"Yeah?" Logan asked, moving a little closer and leaning in to nip at Joe's jaw. "Like what?"

"I thought you told me to surprise you," Joe pointed out, his hand coming up to rest on Logan's back as his head tilted slightly, giving Logan better access to his throat and jaw.

"I lied," Logan purred, nipping at Joe's throat playfully. "Tell me now."

"Maybe I want it to be a secret," Joe returned with a faint grin, his fingers tightening on Logan's back. "Maybe I want it to be a fucking surprise."

Biting down on Joe's neck just hard enough to draw blood, Logan drank a little from the other vamp with a soft growl. "Don't care what you want," he said, licking the wound clean.

"Maybe I don't care what you want," Joe shot back, but it was weak, hidden under a groan when Logan pierced his skin. "Fuck," he hissed, his fingers tightening more against his skin.

"You care," Logan replied, pressing a soft kiss to the quickly healing wound.
