Logan started to run the shower, stripping down and piling his clothes up in the corner. He waited until the water was just right, then stepped under the spray, expecting Jack to come and find him when he was ready.

It felt good, and he leaned casually against the tile as water spilled over him.

"Maybe I am," Jack shot back, then stuck his tongue out childishly at Logan as he tried to saunter. In order to keep his pants on he kind of had to slouch and it ruined the illusion.

Logan simply laughed, tagging along at Jack's side as they made their way home.

"You look hilarious," he continued. "I wish I had a camera. I could blackmail you next time you're strutting around in uniform."

"You're just making me want to get undressed as fast as I can once we're home," he replied. It was hard to tell if Logan's teasing was actually getting to him or if it was an innuendo.

"What can I say? I like you naked," Logan grinned, wandering along and taking some of the food from Jack to lighten his load.

Jack juggled the last of what he had into one hand and wrapped his free arm around Logan.

"How did you ever get used to wearing loose pants like this?" he asked. He'd worn a lot of different clothes but this just felt strange. He had more than one reason to want to get to the Hamlet quickly and get out of them.

"I had to," Logan shrugged. "Tight clothes were painful. They clung in all the wrong places when I was sore."

And as quick as that, all the things Jack pushed to the back of his mind about Logan came rushing back. All it took was one little off-hand comment and Jack's stomach knotted up.

He was glad when the path opened to the Hamlet and their hut was in view.

"Maybe I should start wearing them every time you take that paddle to me," he said, forcing himself to sound casual.

"That's not funny," Logan replied simply, making his way to the hut and heading inside.

Jack followed after, laid the food on the table, and immediately began to strip. He did it slowly- too slowly to simply be getting undressed. He was doing it to torment Logan.

Except Logan wasn't watching, not after Jack's joke, and he sat down at the table as he started to pick at some of the food.

"We should cut some wood today," he said finally, scowling a little as he picked at a muffin.

Some might have said the younger man was sulking ...And they'd have probably been right.

Jack groaned in disgust.

"Really? I don't get a little break from work? I worked hard to get those pearls and now you want to cut wood?"

He walked up behind Logan and laid his hands on his husband's shoulders. His skin was warm and he smelled significantly better than he had before.

"I don't want to work. I want you."

"Then maybe you shouldn't be a dick, Jack," Logan replied simply, brushing Jack's hands away and turning in his seat to look at the other man.

"I wasn't being..." he started, then realized that even if he hadn't meant it that way, it was kind of a dick thing to say.

"Sorry," he said softly, then headed for the bedroom so he could find something to wear so he could cut wood. He'd fucked up the moment and didn't figure he was easily going to win Logan's interest again that soon.

Logan lingered in the kitchen, and then sighed as he headed into the bedroom, leaning against the wall.

"Sorry," he said after a moment. "That was bitchy of me."

"No, I was out of line," Jack replied, looking at Logan from where he was picking between jeans or shorts to work in.

"I'm sorry. Really. I...never thought about why you'd wear your clothes loose. I didn't mean to, you know, be an ass."

Logan shrugged, raising one shoulder. "It's not a big deal. It was a long time ago."

He settled on the jeans and draped them over his arm as he walked to where Logan stood.

"I'm still sorry," he said, then leaned in to kiss Logan's cheek. "One more thing I need to work on...not being a dick to my husband."

He nuzzled Logan's cheek and moved to his neck.

"I love you, you know."

"I know," Logan assured him, turning his head and moving to catch Jack's lips with his own.

"Work can wait," he said finally. "Let's just lay down for a while."

He needed absolutely no convincing. The jeans dropped from his arm so he could wrap both around Logan's waist and seek his lips.

"Just lay down?" he asked between kisses as he pulled Logan to the bed while trying to strip him bare at the same time.

"For now," Logan said quietly. "You're always in such a hurry, man. Half the fun is getting there. So yeah. let's just lay down," he said again, pulling away and starting to undress.

If half the fun was getting there, Jack was sure they were there. The shower had been fun, the kitchen and the walk good, and now...well, he didn't have to wait anymore.

Except that he did.

His only protest was a pouty whimper as he moved away and laid down on the bed. He was promptly joined by Niner who had just come in through an open window.

The lean cat was still tiny, despite the fact that it was fully grown now, and it stomped over Jack's chest, pausing to rub against the other man's chin before making it's way to the edge of the bed to look up at Logan.

Niner made a sharp squeaking noise, demanding attention, and Logan gave her a few strokes before picking her up and placing her on the floor.

"The food bowls are full, right?" he asked Jack as he moved to lay beside him.

Jack could hear the cat continue to comment on the state of the world while walking out of the bedroom. He stretched and rolled against Logan and kissed him slowly and touched him even more slowly than that.

"They're fine. If there's no food there are always mice," he said. The state of the pets was the last thing on his mind.

Logan laughed a little, rolling onto his side to look at Jack.

"I really hope you know that when we have a baby we'll have to get up and feed it, rather than just, you know, letting it live off the land," he snorted.

Jack smirked a little, traced the line of Logan's jaw, and kissed him again.

"I know that," he replied, then his smirk grew. "Like a baby can carry a rifle..."
