Vampire AU Prequel

Logan didn't do bars, not often any way. Too many people, too much going on... too many girls sniffing for money rather than love. Usually he hated it, but tonight...

Tonight he just needed to get out, to have a few drinks and enjoy the city of LA for what it was. Mindless, soulless, and empty. Really, the more he dwelled on it the more Logan was sure those were exactly the sort of qualities he'd been looking for in home, and he grinned as he polished off his drink and left enough cash on the bar for tip and his tab.

Ignoring the many writhing and twisting bodies on the dance floor, Logan made his way to the exit, ready to head home for the night. Passing the pool table, he pushed open the door and stepped into the night. The streets were busy, but he didn't mind, he'd cut through the alleyway and take a shortcut home.

The lamp light flickered as he stepped into the darkened ally, blinking out just as he headed into the shadows. It was alright though, he wasn't scared, he wasn't some sweet sixteen princess with her virtue to worry about... Logan was tough. He was eighteen now, and he had no fear.

"Like what?" Joe asked. "Like you can't fucking leave? Like, even worse, you don't fucking want to? It's the blood. You've got mine in you now and I've got yours."

"Why would you do that? You don't even like me," Logan accused. "Fix it. Make it... stop."

"Only way to make it stop is kill you," Joe replied with a little shrug, his mouth still quirked up into a faint smirk. "You know where the door is, man."

"What if I killed you instead?" Logan asked, though even though he was angry, he had a feeling he was no match for the older man. "It's like in the movies, right? Fire, cross, holywater... Doesn't sound too hard."

"You really wanna try that?" Joe asked curiously, his eyebrow arching as he studied Logan. "You're stronger than you were last night, yeah, but all you've had to eat is a bit from me and I got years on you. Years. You have no fucking idea."

So many years in a city secured a vampire a place in whatever hierarchy existed and Joe had worked a long time to get where he was.

"I'm not afraid of you," Logan insisted, eyeing the wooden chair in the corner and wondering if the whole stake through the heart thing was true.

Fuck it, he was dead, right? What was there left to lose?

Kicking the chair as hard as he could, Logan watched it crack and crumble. Reaching into the rubble, he grabbed the most jagged peice of wood he could find, and lunged at Joe.

Joe had expected the attack, he could feel the anticipation and the curiosity and he knew eventually Logan would learn to use those sense to his advantage, but he was still new and it hadn't happened yet.

When Logan lunged, both Joe's hands came up and he grabbed Logan's wrist, snapping it hard, hard enough to break bones. His other hand plowed into his chest, trying to push him back.

Dropping the stake, Logan let out a deep cry as the pain shot up his arm.

"Fuck," he panted, feeling helpless when the extra air did nothing to calm or sooth him.

Pulling away from Joe, he cradled his broken wrist in his hand, shuddering as he flet it slowly repair itself and snap back into place.

"It's fine," Joe said simply, half off the bed and half on, watching Logan carefully to see if he was going to try coming at him again. "It's healing already, isn't it?"

Logan nodded a bit, his face softening slightly as he tried to make sense of everything he was feeling.

"Why don't you want me?" he asked, hating himself the moment the words left his mouth.

"That what you want?" Joe asked incredulously after a moment, then got up off the bed and grabbed Logan's wrist again. He didn't snap it this time, though, he just grabbed him and pulled him to his feet. "You just want me to want you? What makes you think I don't? What makes you think I haven't just had years of experience in ignoring it?"

Logan tensed a bit but didn't pull away. "You're acting like you don't," he said, pressing himself a little closer.

"I'm acting like I don't," Joe agreed and he didn't step away, but he didn't press any closer either. He was a good fucking actor at this point.

"But you do... You feel it. I know you feel it," Logan said, yanking his wrist free and trying to seem in control.

"Yeah, so?" Joe asked, trying to challenge Logan. "I feel it. Everyone fucking feels it when they feed from someone, that's how it fucking goes."

"Then do something," Logan pushed. "You have me here, you have me... fucking needing you. You turned me for a reason, so just... Do Something you pansy!" he growled, shoving Joe hard enough to knock him back against the wall.

"You like thinking you have control, don't you?" Joe asked as he hit the wall, and then his hand shot out again, grabbing Logan by the throat. "Like to talk big and play big, eh?"

Joe's grip on his throat was a lot less frightening than it had been while he was alive. There was no gasping for air this time, or struggling to get words out.

It hurt, but more than anything Logan was just thankful for the contact. He'd been itching for it.

"Maybe," he snarled, baring his teeth and growling.

"Yeah, well, good fucking luck with that new," Joe replied with a smirk, baring his teeth in return. "That shit ain't gonna work when you're so new."

"I'm not afraid of you, you know that, right?" Logan said, tilting his chin up a little and smirking as he let his face go normal again. "Might be new, but I'm no coward."

"Yeah, you're real tough," Joe agreed with a smirk, his hand tightening on Logan's throat, pushing him away from the wall, maybe toward the bed. "Real fucking tough. You'd be scarier if I was human."

Logan was really just thankful for the contact, and he struggled to think of how to keep things going. How to keep Joe's hands on him.

"Fuck you," he growled, hissing a bit snd struggling to free his neck.

"Fuck you," Joe shot back with a smirk, still shoving him toward the bed. "That the best insult you got? A simple 'fuck you'?" But he wasn't looking like he was particularly interested in letting go of Logan any time soon.

Logan stumbled as the backs of his knees hit the bed, gasping when the only thing keeping him upright was Joe's vice-like hold on his throat.

"What can I say, maybe I'm enjoying this," Logan snarled, struggling a little. "Maybe I don't want to chase you off by saying anything too harsh."

And he was. The violence was sending little sparks of pleasure down his spine.

"Chase me off?" Joe echoed, leaning in just enough to smell the air between them, his teeth snapping lightly. "You think you can chase me off no matter what you do?"
