Camping (locked to Joe, backdated to Sept 29th)

Seeing as how he and Neil had been fighting about damn near everything all week, Logan had been more than a little eager to go camping with Joe by the time Saturday morning rolled around. So eager, in fact, that he'd already been to the compound to find a sleeping bag in the clothes box (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle themed no less), and had packed his make-shift bag before Joe had even come to find him.

For once Logan was ahead of the game, knocking on Joe's door to see if he was ready.

God, he'd never thought he'd be so eager to stare at trees for nearly forty-something hours.

"Hey, you ready?" he asked, knocking once and then pushing the door open a crack. "I grabbed some food for us to take or whatever... so, uh, I'm ready to go when you are man."

Shrugging, Joe set about lighting the fire, then looked over at Logan. "I dunno, man. Bears? Or maybe fucking tigers or something. Has anyone seen any shit like that? I know we got those wild boars, but they're not exactly scary."

"They are when they run at you," Logan argued, pulling a face and glancing around.

Joe snorted softly as he got the fire going and looked over at Logan again. "Yeah? So should I put myself between you and any wild boar?"

"I'd suggest making a run for it," Logan laughed, waiting for Joe to turn his attention back to the fire and then stealthily moving his bag a little closer to Joe's.

Not that he really thought there were bears or anything...

When Joe turned back, if he noticed that Logan's sleeping bag was closer, he didn't say anything. He just said, "We got fire. Which means we can cook food and won't fucking starve. This camping shit isn't so hard, after all."

"Yeah, it's easy enough," Logan agreed. "You want to eat now? Or, uh, later, since it's still early and all."

Joe shrugged and said, "Not too hungry yet." He still wasn't often that hungry, especially not when Bucky was around, but Logan didn't need to know that.

"Me either, man," Logan shrugged, flopping onto his back and staring up into the sky. "It's nice out here. Quiet."

"No one around for fucking miles," Joe agreed, although he didn't think it was really that far. "Makes you wonder why more people don't live all the way out here, eh?"

"You don't have to live in the middle of nowhere to feel totally alone, I guess," Logan replied, letting himself just enjoy the way it felt to get away from island life.

"But some people like living in the middle of nowhere," Joe pointed out, shrugging a bit. "I mean, Dale's hut is off the beaten fucking path enough."

"Yeah, I'd noticed," Logan replied. "What's up with that anyway?"

Joe shrugged a little and said, "He likes it, I guess. Nice fucking hut, anyway, and he's always kinda been like that. On his own."

"But now he's got you," Logan said.

"Yeah, but he still likes his privacy," Joe said. "He goes for runs on his own all the fucking time." Although that was mostly because Joe didn't want to go for a run.

"I guess I can understand that... Still, what do you want, Joe? Do you want to be closer to him?" Logan asked.

"I am close to him," Joe answered, rolling his head so that he could look over at Logan. "It's easy with him, y'know? I don't have to worry about shit I normally would've worried about." Not that he really did relationships.

"What do you mean?" Logan asked curiously. "What would you normally worry about?"

"Shit with Billy was... it was hard," Joe answered after a moment, giving a small shrug. "All we ever did was fuck each other over and if I wasn't fucking him over, he was mad at me for not fucking him over, for being different."

"Oh," Logan said quietly, but simply. Part of him had sort of known that. He'd seen them argue enough. Hell, he'd even watched them throw punches. Maybe he'd really been delusional in believing everything had been wonderful for them.

"I kind of hate that Neil's changed sometimes," he admitted after a moment.

"Everything changes, man," Joe said, shaking his head a bit. "Everything has to fucking change, especially if you come here after something big."

After dying, in his case.

"I hate change," Logan muttered. "When we first got together, it was us against the world, man. Now... Now he's always off meeting people."

Joe wasn't sure what to say that would make that better, if only because meeting new people sure as hell wasn't a bad thing, but it couldn't be easy for Logan either. "Maybe he doesn't realize he's changing, maybe he needs a kick in the fucking head."

"Or maybe we just don't fit anymore," Logan sighed. "I can't make him go back to how he was. I can't do that to him."

"So it just ends?" Joe asked, looking over at Logan. "Or you just keep going like this? Fucking fighting and shit?" He and Billy had existed that way their whole lives.
