In the end Logan had never made it back to the hut. At least not to stay. He had stepped inside just long enough to grab his board and wetsuit, and had headed off to the beach.

Maybe leaving your husband's birthday to go surfing wasn't the best thing to do- but there was only so much Logan could stand to watch. BetweenJack flirting with others and others flirting with Jack, Logan felt ill. Maybe it was how Jack was, and maybe it was something he'd eventually get over, but today wasn't that day. he didn't like watching Jack flirt with others, and if that made him a shitty husband... Well then jack could just find himself someone more willing to share.

Someone like that asshole who'd been practically drooling on him.

He spent an hour in the waves, and then eventually made his way to the compound to shower and dress. Time had passed, and he felt guilty now for leaving Jack at the party- But a little voice in his head assured him that Jack had likely had more fun without him anyway. It was easier to smile and charm people without your husband glaring after all.

Still, he needed to go home. He couldn't hide forever.

Jack was sitting out on the porch with his tools, making yet another necklace or something for someone. One of his friends no doubt. In Logan's eyes, Jack still seemed to have an endless amount of those.

The younger man had been content to watch him a while, but eventually he'd headed back inside to enjoy the luxury of his laptop. He'd played some music, played what appeared to be an emulated version of Super Mario, and when he got tired of that, watched some porn. ...The kind of porn that didn't get him off, but somehow reminded him of stories Jack had told him. Stories about his past and things he had done.

Closing the laptop, he headed back outside, only to find Jack had moved to the hammock. Quietly, he joined his husband, stretching out beside him and resting his head on his shoulder as he wrapped one arm tightly around him. The last few days he'd been asking about Jack's past more and more, pushing the other man to show him and talk to him, only to have Jack say no eveytime. ...But even when Jack snapped, Logan couldn't stop pushing, and with the video he'd just watched still fresh in his mind, he pushed again.

"What's the worst way you ever killed someone?" he asked curiously.

Glancing over the top of his monitor, Logan snuck another peek at his husband. For days now Jack had been working on that stupid bathhouse, and so far the only perk was the chance to see his husband half-naked, dirty, and sweating- Which was really only good from a distance. Logan had made it clear fairly early on that Jack wasn't allowed to touch him until after he'd showered.

Other than the eye candy, however, it was bullshit.

Logan had been keen enough to help on the first day, but the appeal wore off fast. He spent enough time as it was working on the building crew, and he had no desire to build when he could be doing other things. Though, of course, other things tended to involve Jack, and with his husband too busy to roll around in bed, Logan had taken to one of the games on his shiny new laptop. It wasn't anything thrilling, just a game full of different colour blocks that you had to group and then click on until you cleared the screen. It was so simple, and yet totally addictive, to the point that even when Jack finally did return home, clean and showered, Logan would continue to play until it was time to eat or go to bed.

Glancing over the screen as the next level loaded, Logan looked Jack over again and wet his lips, only to have his attention pulled away as the computer chimed happily to alert him that the next round had begun.

It wasn't unusual for Jack to go out without him, but the hours just kept on ticking by, and Logan was getting more and more bored with every passing moment. He'd wanted to spend some time with the other man. Maybe go swimming or just sit out on the beach- But Jack apparently had other plans. Plans that didn't include him.

In the end he caved and took the dogs out, and after a long walk he returned to the hut just in time to see Jack heading up the stairs. He looked happy, and though he liked seeing Jack that way, he couldn't help but be a little annoyed. While he'd been home alone bored, Jack had been having fun without him.

"Hey, where the hell have you been all day?" he asked, Jogging to catch up and meeting Jack on the porch. "I've been bored out of my mind, man."

"And break your only rule? No, I'm fine. Just lay with me. Talk to me. I like it when you talk," Logan replied, sitting on the edge of the bed and then stretching out.

It was warm in the house, the fire crackling in the distance and the curtains blocking any drafts, and Logan slipped under the covers as he looked up at the ceiling. "You remember when we talked about how I wished we could have a house like this all the time? You really think we could?"
echolls_cursed: (Default)
He practically dragged Jack away from the party, holding his hand tightly and grinning as he lead the way outside and into the snow.

"I'm sorry I'm so bad at parties," he said as they walked. "I've been trying though. I was really trying hard tonight."

Last year, Logan hadn't enjoyed New Years Eve. ...Well, okay, he'd enjoyed being dragged to bed and screwed, so drunk that he had no inhibitions at all... But the rest of the night had sucked. Jack had danced with everyone but him. He'd kissed House and been his usual flirty self. It had been painful and upsetting- and this year Logan wasn't going to stand for it.

Logan had left early to shower, and when he'd returned he'd sent Jack off to do the same, leaving the house empty for a while. It was the perfect opportunity to get out everything that was bothering him.

Sitting at the table, he ripped a page form his journal before starting to write. When he was finished, he nailed the paper to the wall with one of Jack's knives, leaving it where the other man would see. It was short, sure, but it was direct and to the point.

RULES FOR NEW YEARS EVE

No kissing House
No punching House
No sex with people who aren't me
I get the midnight kiss
I get the first and last dance
I don't get left and ignored while you woo the whole island
I don't get dirty looks for dancing with other people if you dance with other people
No flirting with Scotty
No kissing Scotty
Lots of sex for me later

Taking a step back, he admired his work and then went to tend the fire that was slowly fading in the fireplace.

Logan had never been the sort of child who tip-toed down the stairs to see what Santa had brought. He'd learned the hard way that peeking at presents never ended in anything but punishment. Not to mention the fact that Aaron had made quick work of ruining any dreams of Santa by telling Logan he wasn't real at a very young age.

There was no room for make-believe at the Echolls home. Not that it had ever been easy to get lost in a dream world in a house full of violence and anger anyeway.

So on Christmas morning, Logan didn't slip out of bed. Instead he slid closer to Jack, holding the other man tightly and letting himself be grateful for what he thought was the best gift he could get that year.

Jack.

Jack was still there. Logan hadn't managed to chase him off or ruin what they had. He hadn't lost the other man to someone better. If anything, he'd gained more and more of Jack as time went by- and that was all Logan really wanted this year.

Nuzzling the other man's neck, he hummed softly and then whispered, "Merry Christmas, Jack."

"I'm all for eating hot food while I watch you fix the bed. ...With your shirt off," he added with a smirk. "I mean, you did break it after all."

He grinned broadly and turned away. "I'll see you later."

Of course, for all his taunting and teasing, Logan didn't really expect Jack to fix the bed. Once he had Niner settled in with his mother, Logan set to work, pulling apart thr transformed bed that had come with the transformed hut, and repairing it with scraps left over from other projects.

It took a while, but when it was finished it looked even stronger than before.

He even put the sheets back on, making the bed as neat as he could be bothered to before wandering over to the bookshelf to grab something to pass the time while he waited for Jack.

It had been a few days since he and jack had woken up ill, and Logan was feeling better.

Silently, he slipped out of bed, leaving Jack to get some more rest as he headed into the kitchen to brew some coffee and make some breakfast. It didn't take long, and soon he was standing at the bottom of the stairs calling for Jack to come downstairs.

He had a lot he wanted to get done. He wanted to do the tree and start talking about gifts. The holidays were getting closer, and this year they where going to be perfect... He was sure of that.
echolls_cursed: (Life Must Be So Wonderful)
It was cold, that was the first thing Logan noticed. It was cold, and their bed was suddenly larger... plusher. The blankets they'd half kicked off during the night felt heavy and soft- and Logan knew before he opened his eyes what had happened.

There was a rush of excitement inside of him, like a child on Christmas morning, and he sat up slowly as he looked around. What had once been their hut was now a cozy home. Nothing was as it should have been, and Logan grinned as he pulled on a shirt and his robe. Stepping out of the bedroom, he found himself looking down a short hallway and a flight of stairs. This was more than just a cozy cabin, it was a house. A small house, sure, but a real house, and Logan rushed down the stairs to find a small living space and a small kitchen with a wood burning stove. a small counter and a proper sink. A sink with a window over it.

Outside it wasn't just snowing. It was a real life winder wonderland. Like something out of a film, and he couldn't help but smile as he rushed to put his shoes on- nearly knocking poor Jack onto their new sofa in his rush to get to the door.

He hadn't even heard the other man get up.

He'd heard about the wedding. It wasn't a huge island and word travelled fast... It hadn't taken long for it to get back to him.

Logan hadn't gone, in fact he had his doubts he'd have been welcome, and since Neil hadn't attended his, he felt no real obligation to turn up anyway. He wasn't great at weddings, and there was nothing worse than having your ex crash the party. He was pretty sure Neil hadn't missed him.

Still, he'd put together something small for his former spouse. A tiny wedding gift that looked a lot like a peace offering. Just a small wooden box that had been carefully crafted and was full of things that Logan considered essential. Weed, rolling papers, and a small hand carved pipe. The good things in life- the kind of things he and Neil used to share.

He didn't hang around Neil's much, but he did occasionally wander down to the Winchester, and today headed inside in search of Neil. He wasn't even sure the other man would be there, but it was worth a shot.

"If I said yes, would you even listen?" Logan asked.

He didn't want Jack to stop, not at all, but it was always fun to wind the other man up a little- if only because he knew that the more he wound Jack up- the more he'd act out... And, of course, the more Jack acted up, the more chances Logan had to react. And god, it had been a while since he'd reacted. It had been forever since he'd had a chance to one-up the other man.

For the most part, Logan kept to areas of the beach he was familiar with, places where he knew the waves well and felt comfortable. Though that wasn't to say he didn't wander now and then, occasionally trying out new areas and mapping out new spots to hang out. Places where the beach was more private, or places where the waves were just a little taller and faster. It kept him on his toes and it kept him sharp.

Today was one of those days, and he'd wandered a good way down the beach before heading out into the water to check it out. Half an hour later and he was steady on his board- unaware of the fact that just beneath the surface of the water on his right there was a rather large and unforgiving group of rocks just waiting for him to fall.

Injuries happen, and over the years Logan's had his share. Twisted ankles, bruised arms and legs, even a nasty cut on his head. Sometimes the waves just didn't play nice- and today was one of those days too.

He couldn't have told you when he lost the board, or just what he'd done wrong, all Logan knew was that he fell hard, the wave crashing down over him as he slipped under the water. His head made contact with one of the larger rocks, once and then again as the wave hit. His ears rang from the force of it, water getting in his nose and mouth as he slowly began to lose conciousness. If he could have opened his eyes and gotten his head above the water, he would have seen just how close he was to the shore- and have known right away that he was only moments away from being dragged out father from it.

"I was joking!" Logan protested with a loud laugh, holding on tightly and squirming to get down. "And you're the wife, I'm gonna get you a fucking apron from the clothes box. And a purse. And a- uh, I dunno. More wife type stuff. I'll think of it later. ...Now put me down!"

The first thought that crossed his mind was how fucking scary Jack was sometimes. His voice, his eyes, his insanely strong grip...

The second thought that crossed his mind was how fucking sexy Jack was sometimes. His voice, his eyes, his insanely strong grip...

He struggled hard, panic creeping up as his mind flashed back to all the fights they'd had before they'd finally slipped into bed together. He thought of all the times he'd gone home bloody and bruised, and his struggle became genuinely panicked as he tried to get free so he could try and defend himself.

And then he remembered all the times Jack had pinned him down and fucked him so hard he'd seen stars. He remembered the filthy words in his ears and how wound up and intense the other man was sometimes. He remembered how worked up Jack had gotten when he'd patched things up with Neil- and how there had even been an occasion or two that he'd seen that dark look just for being too affectionate with Joe.

He remembered, and his struggles stopped as he met Jack's eyes with his own.

"I can't leave you. I don't know how to any more ...I'm not sure I could even if I did."

Logan nodded, following Jack to the bed and then pushing him backwards with a hint of a smile.

"I might be a little less cranky if you were naked," he replied, pulling his own shirt off over his head and tossing it aside. "I'm still pissed you were late for my class- I think you should make it up to me. How about you give me a back rub and I'll think about making your punishment a little less severe?" he suggested.

They had been planning the camping trip for a while now, and Logan had spent nearly an hour packing. He'd grabbed enough blankets and sheets to make a comfortable bed and a tent, some food, lots of water, and their toys. ...Okay, not all their toys, but their favourites. After all, this trip didn't have to be all work and no play. They were just picking out a spot to build in.

Zipping up the second bag, he looked over at Jack and smiled. "You ready to go?" he asked, grinning and offering him one of the bags. "I packed everything, so if there's nothing else you want to grab, we can go."

There was something really hot about how demanding Jack could be, and Logan wet his lips as he sank back in his seat.

"Maybe I don't want to," he replied defiantly, folding his arms over his chest and giving Jack a wickedly stubborn look. Their games almost never left the hut, and they definitely didn't get brought into the compound where people might catch a glimpse of what went on between them- but the invitation was there. Logan was practically daring Jack to take the upper hand and drag him out of there.

It was a risky move. After all, anyone who saw them, if Jack took the challenge, would be left either fully aware of what they were playing at, or convinced that there was a fight brewing between the two men. Maybe even something worse than that.

Still, Logan didn't back down, leaving the choice in Jack's hands.

The stone was cold against his back, and the ropes that dug into his wrists and ankles were painful. His shirt was ripped from being yanked and tugged around, and he had managed to quirm his way into the cornor, his knees drawn up to his chest defensively and his hands behind his back.

He was alone for the time being, and the large room was quiet- but not empty. There were tools and furniture- and though it was nothing like the room he and Jack had used back in Neptune, there were a few pieces of furniture that looked familiar. Other things, however, reminded him of things he'd seen in textbooks and museums. Tools he knew the use for but never wanted to experience.

Shaking, he tried again to free himself, but there was no chance of slipping out of the knots John had tied. He was helpless, and Jack- Jack was gone.

His husband, his partner, his everything was gone. ...His life was as good as over. )
