He practically dragged Jack away from the party, holding his hand tightly and grinning as he lead the way outside and into the snow.
"I'm sorry I'm so bad at parties," he said as they walked. "I've been trying though. I was really trying hard tonight."

Date: 2010-01-05 03:26 am (UTC)"Will you tell me about the day you died?" he asked softly. "I know you told me some of it before, but I want to know. I want to know what happened."
And it was unfair, he knew it was unfair to ask for Jack to dig up such a painful memory, but he wanted to hear it. Even if he knew it would only upset them both.

Date: 2010-01-05 03:38 am (UTC)"I knew I was going to die, no matter what. The Doctor was making a Delta wave and if it had worked, I'd have been barbecued, along with all the Daleks, everyone on the satellite, and pretty much everyone on the Earth.
But we had to fight. I did, anyway. There was no way I was going down without a fight. I told Rose and the Doctor goodbye and then I got to work.
We set up points to defend, but the Daleks kept coming and we kept falling back. The few people we had kept getting picked off, one by one, until there was just me. I kept fighting, though. I kept fighting until I ran out of ammo and I had my back to a wall. But I knew I was going to die...so it was okay. Fighting for something good? It was a good reason to go. It was the first time in my life I'd ever had something worth fighting for that was completely...selfless."
Jack paused and looked down, staring at a point on Logan's chest.
"But I was scared. I was really scared."

Date: 2010-01-05 03:47 am (UTC)He closed his eyes as his lips touched skin, emotions rushing through him. Jack had died. He'd died, and while Logan was aware of the fact that it hadn't stuck, that his husband would come back again and again in his future off the island, it still hurt. It hurt to think of a world without Jack.
"Love you, and... You are so brave. I couldn't have done that. I couldn't have fought like that. You- You are amazing. ...I'm sorry though, that you died, that you were scared, that you had to do that."

Date: 2010-01-05 04:00 am (UTC)"Don't be sorry. I can't be too upset. It got me here and it got me you. Right?" He didn't care about the other bit of timeline that he knew about. He wasn't that guy and although his future haunted him, it wasn't here and it wasn't now and he couldn't imagine that the man Ianto knew was remotely as happy as he was.

Date: 2010-01-05 04:24 am (UTC)"We really kinda would," he agreed. "Definitely not the kind of thing you read to kids at bedtime. Not unless you wanted to torture them and make them cry."

Date: 2010-01-05 04:33 am (UTC)"At least this has a happy ending," he said softly, rolling toward him to give him a soft kiss. "It's about time we got a happily ever after, right? I think we've both earned it."

Date: 2010-01-05 04:40 am (UTC)"...Do you want to eat? I'm starving," he said suddenly. Though it wasn't a change of subject, at least not to Logan. The memory of being locked in the closet reminded him of how hungry he'd been that night. Sent to bed without dinner, and then punished again when he'd tried to sneak down for some left overs.
There were always left overs at the Echolls' house. Little pastries and appetizers from parties, or side dishes from dinners cooked by strangers who seemed to pass through their home like ghosts without names.
"I want something sweet," he added softly.

Date: 2010-01-05 05:26 am (UTC)Downstairs, he stoked the fire and got food together. Putting a plate together, he set a place at the small table for Logan before he bothered to get himself anything. It was a small thing, and not as obvious as actually feeding the man, but it was all part of taking care of him just the same.

Date: 2010-01-05 05:31 am (UTC)Logan noticed the set place at the table, and he looked at it curiously before looking over at Jack.
