Logan Echolls

Jack gave Joe a quizzical look before he realized that he'd never really seen the man at the bash. He'd just figured they'd never been in the same room at the same time.

"The party in the compound. On New Year's Eve," he replied. "All the foods you miss, booze you can drink, and, um...everything. I'm not above taking advantage of mystery generosity and calling it all ours." Jack grinned at Logan with a devilish glint in his eyes. "Pizza sounds good. I'll tell the wedding fairy."

"What's more fun then a wedding to ring in the new year, right? We can get hitched, get wasted, eat pizza, and then spend the first week of the new year screwing in some secluded location," Logan smirked.

"Okay, I'm about to withdraw my fucking blessing if you keep talking about that shit," Joe warned, arching an eyebrow at Logan. "I don't wanna hear it."

He wasn't about the take his blessing back, not really, but he didn't want to hear that sort of thing either.

Jack started to snicker like a twelve year old. He'd joked with Logan about Joe's reaction, but being here for it was miles better.

"Cut it out, Logan," he managed finally. "Before he really does take it back."

"What? I totally didn't say anything!" Logan protested. "I said screwing, I didn't go into details... Besides, I've totally heard you and Dale going at it before, so casually mentioning I wanna stay in bed with Jack for a week is nothing. Not after I've heard you moaning Dale's name. I'm probably, like, emotionally scarred or something from that."

"This conversation isn't happening, man," Joe insisted, swatting Logan and trying to get him into a headlock, if only to distract him long enough to change the subject.

"Oh, God...I don't want to hear it either," Jack said, feigning horror. "Leave Dale out of it...you're scarring me."

Logan struggled a little, but was laughing too hard to really fight Joe off. "He was all 'OH JOE! JOE DICK! DO ME!' and moaning and shit," he lied, trying to wind them both up now.

"I will kick both your asses out of this hut if you keep that up," Joe threatened, getting Logan's head under his arm. "There are lines, Logan. Very important lines."

"Really important lines. So shut up," Jack agreed. "Unless you just need to get under Joe's skin. Then I can, you know, give you two a minute," he added, moving for the door.

"Alright, alright, I'm stopping," Logan laughed. "Sorry, alright?"

He managed to get out of Joe's hold and flashed Jack a small smile. "You don't mind if me and Joe talk for a bit?" he asked, not wanting to chase Jack off but knowing Joe would probably want to talk to him. "I can come find you right after, we can go get lunch or something."

After everything they'd already said, Joe had to admit he was a little curious about what else Logan might have to say to him. Keeping quiet, swatting Logan playfully when he escaped, he looked at Jack as well, almost asking him if he knew what it might be about.

Jack was, frankly, grateful for a reason to go. He tried, made his best effort, but he knew he wasn't going to get Joe to like him simply because Logan did.

"I don't mind," he replied, then gave Joe a nod. "Have fun. I'll...see you at home."

And with that he turned and sauntered out the door, as happy as he could possibly be since it had all gone so well.

Watching Jack go, Logan waited until the other man was out the door before turning his attention to Joe. "You're really okay with this?" he asked, wanting to make sure Joe wasn't just giving Jack his blessing to keep him happy. "He's trying really hard you know. He wants you to like him."

"Yeah, I know he is," Joe answered, because it was obvious that Jack was making the effort. "Don't tell him I said it, because then he'll stop trying, but the fact that he wants me to like him for you... that says a lot."

Logan smiled a little at that and laughed softly. "You know you could at least throw him a bone now and then, just something to let him know you don't totally hate him."

Joe was smiling when he spoke, but he was serious as well. Even though it was obvious he'd do anything for Logan -- he wouldn't even try to deny it anymore -- it was still a huge step for him. "I just gave the guy my blessing to marry you," he pointed out. "That's not just a bone, man, that's a whole steak."

"Alright, I know, but- I dunno, you could just try talking to him now and then, that's all. It might not end with you wanting to punch him in the face, it could go really well. You might even find you like him. Dale likes him," he added, knowing that having Dale on his side was something he could use. "He thinks it's nice we- uh"

He nearly said 'we're getting married', but that would mean admitting that he'd talked to Dale about it first, and Logan bit his tongue and quickly corrected himself.

"-he thinks we're really good together," he said instead.

"I'll talk to him," Joe said, relenting. It was sort of annoying how easily he would bend to Logan now, do anything just to make him happy and he couldn't help but playfully roll his eyes. "And I know Dale likes him, but Dale also puts up with me, so bringing him into this isn't necessarily saying a lot. But I'll talk to him."

"Cool," Logan said, clearly pleased but not making too big a deal of it. "Man, can you believe all this shit? If you'd told me a year ago- hell a month ago, that I was gonna get married to Jack or even remarried at all, I would have said you were nuts."

"I would've said you were nuts," Joe pointed out with a snort of laughter, but he understood what Logan meant. If anyone had told him that he'd one day love someone other than Billy as much as he loved Dale -- and that he'd be in a relationship that was not only functional, but healthy -- he would've thought they were crazy. "Weird how some shit changes, that's for sure."

"No kidding. I mean, I'm with Jack, you're with Dale... Billy is gone, Neil doesn't even want to look at me. Matthew's getting bigger everyday and Anne doesn't have Ariel anymore- Everything is different now," Logan replied. "Some of it sucks, but- I'm not fighting change anymore. Besides, I'm really happy. I didn't think I would ever be this happy again."

"People always used to say that shit happened for a reason. That it would all work out in the end and I used to fucking hate that," Joe said, nodding his agreement. "But it makes sense. I mean, I get it now."

"Yeah, yeah me too," Logan replied honestly, smiling sadly. "We haven't changed though, me and you. Proves that some things last, right? Like, not everything changes, some stuff you can rely on. ...Some people you can rely on."
