Camping (locked to Joe, backdated to Sept 29th)

Seeing as how he and Neil had been fighting about damn near everything all week, Logan had been more than a little eager to go camping with Joe by the time Saturday morning rolled around. So eager, in fact, that he'd already been to the compound to find a sleeping bag in the clothes box (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle themed no less), and had packed his make-shift bag before Joe had even come to find him.

For once Logan was ahead of the game, knocking on Joe's door to see if he was ready.

God, he'd never thought he'd be so eager to stare at trees for nearly forty-something hours.

"Hey, you ready?" he asked, knocking once and then pushing the door open a crack. "I grabbed some food for us to take or whatever... so, uh, I'm ready to go when you are man."

"Not lately," Joe answered. It was harder lately. Everything was ten times harder with Bucky around.

"Because of him?" Logan asked. "'Cause of Bucky?"

For a moment Joe didn't respond and then he nodded. "Yeah," he admitted. "It's just easier to hang out around the Hamlet and forget that shit."

Logan nodded in understanding, giving Joe an apologetic look in the dim fire light. He knew Joe well enough to know he thrived on social interaction. And while Logan was happy to hide himself away until Aaron was gone for good, the situation must have been killing Joe.

"Figure I gotta get used to it sooner or later," he added after another silence. "Get on with shit." Either that or he'd snap entirely. Just go completely fucking insane.

"You shouldn't have to. This shouldn't be happening at all, Joe," Logan sighed.

"But it is. So what the fuck are we gonna do about it?" he asked, giving a small shrug. "Can't do much, can we?"

"It's not right," Logan sighed. "why do you think this stuff happens? What's the reason?"

"I think I've stopped trying to find a reason, man," Joe admitted, shaking his head. "It just happens here, it just goes to shit sometimes."

Laying back down, Logan sighed. "Sometimes I wish things could just be normal here."

"Then none of us would be here," Joe said thoughtfully. "Things have to be fucked up for us to even get here in the first place."

"I guess," Logan agreed. "Whatever though, it sucks. It really sucks Joe."

"Yeah, it really fucking sucks," Joe agreed with a soft snort. "Fucking infuriating sometimes, man."

"You ever wonder what'll happen if people find a way off the island? I mean there has to be something out there, right? Other lands... maybe other people," Logan mused, realizing he was still holding the joint he'd lit, but that he'd hardly smoked any of it. Taking one long pull, he stubbed it out in the dirt and sighed.

"I don't think about it much anymore," Joe admitted. "After I couldn't follow Billy I stopped thinking about it because it didn't matter anymore, you know? I figured that I'd just say fuck it."

"I think about it sometimes," Logan said simply, deciding to leave it at that.

"What do you figure happens?" Joe asked curiously, stretching out a little and then looking over at Logan.

"I dunno. Maybe we go home. Forget everything. Pick up where we left off. Or maybe we move on to someplace else. New island. New world," Logan shrugged.

"Or maybe we get a second change. We go home, but we get to do things different."

Joe wasn't sure what he'd do different if he went home or even if he would at all, but maybe it was a nice thought. "Guess I'm not big on thinking about leaving people here," he answered after a moment.

"You think I am?" Logan asked, giving Joe a look.

"Nah," Joe said with a shrug. "That's not what I said." He hadn't say anything about what Logan might or might not want.

Logan just scowled, but he didn't argue. He didn't want to loose anyone. Not Joe, not Neil, not Anne or anyone else.

"I figure most of this island logic is beyond me anyway," Joe decided after a moment. "Dunno if it's even worth trying to figure it out anymore."

"I dunno," Logan sighed, looking at Joe. "Sometimes I just wish I knew what was next."

"No one ever knows what comes next," Joe pointed out, shrugging a bit. "Isn't that what people say is the beauty of life or some bullshit like that?"
