Camping (locked to Joe, backdated to Sept 29th)

Seeing as how he and Neil had been fighting about damn near everything all week, Logan had been more than a little eager to go camping with Joe by the time Saturday morning rolled around. So eager, in fact, that he'd already been to the compound to find a sleeping bag in the clothes box (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle themed no less), and had packed his make-shift bag before Joe had even come to find him.

For once Logan was ahead of the game, knocking on Joe's door to see if he was ready.

God, he'd never thought he'd be so eager to stare at trees for nearly forty-something hours.

"Hey, you ready?" he asked, knocking once and then pushing the door open a crack. "I grabbed some food for us to take or whatever... so, uh, I'm ready to go when you are man."

"That's a pretty fucking depressing story," Joe pointed out after a moment, frowning himself. Hadn't they just been trying to forget Aaron? Maybe Logan needed to talk about it anyway.

"That's all it is though," Logan replied. "Someone wrote it. You ever think about it that way? Wonder who it was who wrote it all down..."

"Whoever wrote it all down is a depressing fuck," Joe decided. "And whoever changed the end of my movie to have my fucking death is a depressing fuck, too."

"Yeah. People are sadistic dicks, huh?" Logan said, watching Joe.

"People fucking suck," Joe agreed with a soft snort. "The shit we watch for entertainment is sick."

"Like horror movies. I love horror movies," Logan admitted.

"Yeah, like horror movies," Joe agreed, grinning a little. "They're fucked up, but what's not to love, man?"

"It's sick though, if you think about it. Watching people suffer. It's really fucked up that we enjoy that," Logan said, frowning slightly.

"People like seeing other people worse off than they are, I guess," Joe said, shrugging a bit. "Makes your own life a little bit better for awhile."

"It's twisted," Logan said firmly, reaching for his bag and casting Joe a quick glance.

"Sure is. People are twisted, man. It's like a fucking rule," he agreed, looking mostly relaxed and comfortable.

Fishing out a joint and his lighter, Logan flopped onto his back. "I mean, what if they showed up here? Imagine having to see yourself mutilated and murdered, only to find out it was a movie? A slasher flick for people like us to watch for a cheap thrill."

"Beth," Joe answered immediately, although he didn't know she'd been in a movie. It just seemed to terrifying and too perfect, the scars on her legs and the thing dragging her down into the dark. "Beth's like that, so I think one of them is already here."

"I dunno who that is," Logan admitted, lighting his joint and zoning out a little.

"Probably for the best," Joe admitted with a small smirk. "She punched me in the face the first time we met."

"Well, your charm has been known to bring that out in people," Logan smirked.

"Hey, she likes me now, man. I won her over," Joe replied with a grin. And it really seemed like he had.

Logan just snorted a bit. "You know a lot of people here, huh?" he asked.

"Guess so," Joe replied with a bit of a shrug. "Seems like the only people I talk to anymore are you, Dale, Neil and Anne." And Beth, somehow. She'd wormed her way in there.

"See Eostre sometimes with that kid office business, but I haven't stopped by lately."

"Yeah?" Logan asked. "Doesn't seem like you. You're always off meeting people."

"Not lately," Joe answered. It was harder lately. Everything was ten times harder with Bucky around.

"Because of him?" Logan asked. "'Cause of Bucky?"

For a moment Joe didn't respond and then he nodded. "Yeah," he admitted. "It's just easier to hang out around the Hamlet and forget that shit."

Logan nodded in understanding, giving Joe an apologetic look in the dim fire light. He knew Joe well enough to know he thrived on social interaction. And while Logan was happy to hide himself away until Aaron was gone for good, the situation must have been killing Joe.

"Figure I gotta get used to it sooner or later," he added after another silence. "Get on with shit." Either that or he'd snap entirely. Just go completely fucking insane.
