Logan's head had stopped pounding less then a day after the accident. He'd taken a hard hit, but he was alright, and other then a small cut and a bruise that was turning a pleasant shade of purple, Logan wasn't looking much worse the wear. He was sleeping a lot though, more then usual even, but he wasn't sure he could blame the bump for that. No, sometimes Logan just didn't like getting out of bed.

For the last hour or so though, he hadn't really been sleeping, just sort of drifting in and out. One minute he was awake and almost ready to get up, and the next he'd roll onto his side and find that perfectly warm spot on the bed... the one that made it all too easily to let his eyes drift shut again. Neil was out, probably walking Max, so there was no one nagging him, no one to tell him to stop being lazy and to go eat something. It was nice, and Logan planned on enjoying it just a little longer.

He'd found that spot again, and he was just about to settle back in for at least another ten minutes of lazing about... when someone said his name.

No, not just someone.

Logan would have recognized that voice anywhere, anytime. He new what it sounded like on film and on the phone, and he knew what it sounded like when the older man was there. Logan knew Aaron Echoll's voice better then anyone else's.

Eyes snapping open, Logan sat up almost instantly, his body tense as he listened. Maybe he'd imagined it... maybe it had been a dream,

But no, there it was again.

"Logan?"

Getting to his feet, Logan slowly walked to the door, peering around it with a worried look. His chest was tight and he was pretty sure he was sweating, but he made sure not to let anything show on his face as he headed outside and looked around. Making his way around to the back of the hut, he could feel his heart pounding in his chest. "Dad?" he said quietly, unsure and uneasy.

And there he was, Aaron Echolls, not a foot away. He had that look on his face, angry and pinched so tight the the lines in his face seemed deeper then usual. He took a step closer and Logan instantly took a step back, right onto someone's foot.

"Quit watching me like I'm crazy," Logan snorted, rolling his eyes. "There's no one there. I was just... I must have been sleep walking or something," he insisted, grabbing a banana out of the bowl and peeling it.

"Or maybe I'm going fucking blind," Joe pointed out, although he could see everything else just fine. The only thing he was missing was whoever Logan was looking at.

Logan didn't say anything, he just wrapped his arms around himself and shrugged.

"And deaf," Joe added, because he obviously wasn't hearing what Logan was. "I only have ten percent hearing in one of my ears anyway." As if that made a difference.

Logan nodded a bit, glancing around again in search of Aaron, but there was still nothing there, and he was starting to worry about himself. "It's okay, Joe... Just forget it, alright? Forget I said anything."

"Sure," Joe agreed easily, although he was pretty certain that they both knew he wasn't going to just forget it like that. Not when it came to Aaron.

Taking a bite of the banana, Logan watched Joe for a long moment before glancing away. "So what are you doing today?" he asked, hoping to change the topic.

"Quitting smoking, apparently," he said with a grunt. "Not that I have much of anything left to smoke, but it still fucking sucks."

Logan looked confused by that, and looked back over at Joe. "Huh? Why?" he asked, finishing the piece of fruit and tossing the peel.

"I figure if I'm gonna stay clean I need to quit all the shit I used to do when I was getting stoned," Joe admitted with a little shrug. "So that includes smoking and booze."

"You think you can do it?" Logan asked simply.

"I haven't smoked much since I got here and same with drinking," Joe said with another little shrug. All that he'd done had been recent, when he'd started to slide. "I think I can."

"Well, if you think it'll help... then you should do it," Logan replied. "And, you know, if you need anything... I'm here or whatever."

"I'd tell you to steal all my smokes, but I smoked the last one yesterday," he admitted with a faint smile, shrugging a bit. "I know we got stoned together a couple times, so I probably can't do that anymore."

"Yeah... I'm probably not the best person to spend time with while you clean up," Logan admitted.

Joe shook his head at that, because that wasn't what he meant at all. "That's not true," he said simply, because saying, 'I do need you around' sounded pretty fucking ridiculous.

"Yeah, well... I guess we'll see what happens, huh?" Logan shrugged.

"I don't want you to start staying away because of this," Joe said seriously, frowning a bit at that. He'd told Logan that he'd decided to come down the mountain for him, he was going to stay clean because of him, he needed him to be there.

"I won't. I just... want you to be better or whatever," Logan replied.

"Hey, I will be," Joe said, reaching out and touching Logan's shoulder a bit.

"I know," Logan replied, leaning into the touch a little.

"You keeping away isn't gonna help that," he told him honestly, then squeezed his shoulder before he dropped his hand.

"I'm not going anywhere, alright, I promise," Logan replied shaking his head.

Nodding, Joe leaned against the counter again, trying not to make it obvious that he was looking around the kitchen again. "Yeah, okay."

Logan noticed Joe was looking around, but he didn't say anything this time. "You okay?" he asked curiously.
