On the way out, I look to make sure Max is still closed up behind the newly finished fence, just 'cause I'm not used to it bein' so easy to leave him behind. He's got his fence and a tarp for shade and a bowl of water and he's completely ignoring whatever the fuck is going on with Logan and me.
Turning back to look at Logan, I squeeze his hand just a little, hurrying to keep up 'cause it's like he can't get outta there fast enough. "You sure you're okay?" I ask, knowing he's not and knowing he'll tell me he's fine anyway. Don't expect much else, not until he decides its time for a breakdown or somethin'. That's usually the only time he actually ever tells me anything.
