Vampire AU Prequel

Logan didn't do bars, not often any way. Too many people, too much going on... too many girls sniffing for money rather than love. Usually he hated it, but tonight...

Tonight he just needed to get out, to have a few drinks and enjoy the city of LA for what it was. Mindless, soulless, and empty. Really, the more he dwelled on it the more Logan was sure those were exactly the sort of qualities he'd been looking for in home, and he grinned as he polished off his drink and left enough cash on the bar for tip and his tab.

Ignoring the many writhing and twisting bodies on the dance floor, Logan made his way to the exit, ready to head home for the night. Passing the pool table, he pushed open the door and stepped into the night. The streets were busy, but he didn't mind, he'd cut through the alleyway and take a shortcut home.

The lamp light flickered as he stepped into the darkened ally, blinking out just as he headed into the shadows. It was alright though, he wasn't scared, he wasn't some sweet sixteen princess with her virtue to worry about... Logan was tough. He was eighteen now, and he had no fear.

"Does it matter?" Logan asked with a laugh, leading the way with long strides and fast steps. "It's big, alright. Bigger than most apartments around here. It's got two bedrooms, a kitchen... living room, dining area. The basics."

"Yeah, because I'm a shallow, shallow fucker," Joe said simply, nodding as he continued to follow Logan along toward his place. "I like big places."

Rolling his eyes, Logan was silent until they reached the hotel, ignoring the man at the desk and heading right for the elevator.

It took them straight up, no stops or waiting before it dumped them into a dimly lit hall and Logan dug out his key card.

"Nice," Joe murmured as they approached Logan's room, tucking his hands into his pockets as he waited for Logan to let them inside. "Nicer than the shit holes I used to stay in anyway."

Letting them in, Logan didn't bother with a tour, he just headed straight for the bar and grabbed a beer. "Want one?" he offered.

[identity profile] jdick.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Joe nodded his agreement and headed over to where Logan was, holding his hand out for a beer. "Yeah, man, thanks," he said simply.

[identity profile] echolls-cursed.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Handing Joe a beer, Logan shrugged a little. "So, big enough?" he asked.

[identity profile] jdick.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
"Big enough," Joe agreed with a smirk, opening the beer when Logan handed it to him. "Where'd you get the money for this place?"

[identity profile] echolls-cursed.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
"None of your damn business," Logan snorted. "Tell me about you, and I might talk about me."

[identity profile] jdick.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
"I told you lots about me, fucker," Joe pointed out, then took a sip of his beer. "Who turned me, what I did to the bitch who killed him. That's more than most people get."

[identity profile] echolls-cursed.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Fine, I'm rich, now you know all about me," Logan smirked.

[identity profile] jdick.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
"You're really fucking clever," Joe said dryly. "You want more? Fine. Joseph Robert Mulgrew. I'm from Canada. Vancouver, specifically. I sang in a band for a long time, we made a lot of money."

[identity profile] echolls-cursed.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
"You used to sing?" Logan asked with a laugh. "Seiously? What did you sing, Joseph?"

[identity profile] jdick.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Guess," Joe suggested, looking amused. It'd be interesting to see what Logan thought of him in terms of music, anyway. And if he thought he'd be bothered by being called Joseph, he was wrong. Joe had heard it more than enough from both Billy and Bucky.

[identity profile] echolls-cursed.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Show tunes," Logan said dryly, rolling his eyes. "I dunno. Rock, I guess. You don't look like a folk singer."

[identity profile] jdick.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Punk," Joe said, then took another drink from his beer. "So... close enough, eh?" And it was close enough for his tastes, he figured.

[identity profile] echolls-cursed.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Logan wrinkled his nose at that, and took a swig of his own beer. "Yeah, I guess."

Tilting his head a little, he shrugged. "Not much to know about me. Name's Logan Echolls. My father was Aaron Echolls," he said simply, waiting for the name to click with the other man.

Everyone knew about Aaron Echolls. The fact that he'd been put on trial for the murder of Lilly Kane, getting off a free man, only to be shot in the head the same day. In turn, most people knew Logan, by reputation if nothing else.

[identity profile] jdick.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
It took Joe a moment to make the connection, but he did eventually and his eyebrows lifted briefly. "He was an actor," he said, although that wasn't what stood out in Joe's memory.

[identity profile] echolls-cursed.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
"He was a lot of thinks," Logan replied, shrugging it off and finishing his beer.

"Anyway, he payed for most of this, the rest is all from my investments. I had been looking to buy up a few businesses, but seeing as how I'm dead now, that could prove difficult."

[identity profile] jdick.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Whoops," Joe replied dryly with a small quirk of his mouth. "You could still do it, man, no one knows your dead yet, do they? You can still keep your old life, you just have to conduct it at night rather than during the day."

[identity profile] echolls-cursed.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, maybe," Logan shrugged, wandering over to the curtains and pulling them closed. "You tired?" he asked. "You could have your own room if you want, it's right in there. My friend used to live here with me, so his stuff is still laying around, but, uh, he's not coming back s help yourself to whatever. I'll be in there if you want me," he said, pointing at his own room and wandering off.

[identity profile] jdick.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
"That your way of saying you're done playing with me?" Joe asked, still grinning faintly, watching as Logan walked away. He'd stay, of course, if only because he couldn't exactly leave once the sun had come up.

[identity profile] echolls-cursed.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
"That's me giving you a choice," Logan smirked. "You can follow me if you want... but take your time. I'm not going anywhere," he added, wanting to give Joe a chance to explore.

He peeled the shirt Joe had loned him off as he walked, heading into the bedroom and leaving the door open as he san down onto the bed and stretched.

He really was tired, and as he turned onto his side he could already feel sleep coming for him. Still, he couldn't help but hope Joe would come find him anyway, even if it was just to lay beside him.

[identity profile] jdick.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
Joe watched Logan for a moment, then turned and began to look around, opening cupboards and doors, peering at things curiously. He visited the bathroom briefly, looking around, lifting things and then putting them back down.

Then, maybe ten minutes after Logan had disappeared into the bedroom, he followed him inside.

[identity profile] echolls-cursed.livejournal.com 2007-11-10 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
Logan was only just starting to drift off when he felt Joe enter the room. He'd stripped down to nothing, the blankets tucked around himself childishly as he cracked one eye open and shuffled over to make room for Joe to come lay with him.
