Camping (locked to Joe, backdated to Sept 29th)

Seeing as how he and Neil had been fighting about damn near everything all week, Logan had been more than a little eager to go camping with Joe by the time Saturday morning rolled around. So eager, in fact, that he'd already been to the compound to find a sleeping bag in the clothes box (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle themed no less), and had packed his make-shift bag before Joe had even come to find him.

For once Logan was ahead of the game, knocking on Joe's door to see if he was ready.

God, he'd never thought he'd be so eager to stare at trees for nearly forty-something hours.

"Hey, you ready?" he asked, knocking once and then pushing the door open a crack. "I grabbed some food for us to take or whatever... so, uh, I'm ready to go when you are man."

"I am close to him," Joe answered, rolling his head so that he could look over at Logan. "It's easy with him, y'know? I don't have to worry about shit I normally would've worried about." Not that he really did relationships.

"What do you mean?" Logan asked curiously. "What would you normally worry about?"

"Shit with Billy was... it was hard," Joe answered after a moment, giving a small shrug. "All we ever did was fuck each other over and if I wasn't fucking him over, he was mad at me for not fucking him over, for being different."

"Oh," Logan said quietly, but simply. Part of him had sort of known that. He'd seen them argue enough. Hell, he'd even watched them throw punches. Maybe he'd really been delusional in believing everything had been wonderful for them.

"I kind of hate that Neil's changed sometimes," he admitted after a moment.

"Everything changes, man," Joe said, shaking his head a bit. "Everything has to fucking change, especially if you come here after something big."

After dying, in his case.

"I hate change," Logan muttered. "When we first got together, it was us against the world, man. Now... Now he's always off meeting people."

Joe wasn't sure what to say that would make that better, if only because meeting new people sure as hell wasn't a bad thing, but it couldn't be easy for Logan either. "Maybe he doesn't realize he's changing, maybe he needs a kick in the fucking head."

"Or maybe we just don't fit anymore," Logan sighed. "I can't make him go back to how he was. I can't do that to him."

"So it just ends?" Joe asked, looking over at Logan. "Or you just keep going like this? Fucking fighting and shit?" He and Billy had existed that way their whole lives.

"I don't know. I have no idea," Logan said softly. "I just know that I want a family... I can't imagine raising a kid with him when we fight like this though. I just can't."

"And you don't think the fighting will stop?" Joe asked. "Ever?" Stewie had seemed to get along with Joe and Billy fighting just fine, but he was a bit different.

"I dunno," Logan shrugged. "Mybe, maybe not... It hasn't stopped yet though."

"But it might one day. You might be able to figure this shit out," Joe said, shrugging as well. "You never fucking know, right?"

"I guess..." Logan sighed, closing his eyes and trying to just let it all vanish. "What about you, Joe? What's going on with you?"

Joe figured Logan meant besides Bucky and he shrugged a bit. "I figure if I get nominated this time, I'll run for Council again," he admitted. It gave him something to do, anyway. Kept him from going batshit insane.

"Yeah?" Logan asked. "Good for you, man."

"Figure it's worth a shot anyway," Joe shrugged. "Keeps me from thinking too much." And it wasn't like the current Council was any better without him.

"It think it's a good idea," Logan nodded. "You think it'll help you ignore this stuff with Bucky?"

"Yeah, it might," Joe said with another small shrug. "Or it might make it worse, having him hang around all the fucking time while I'm trying to get shit done."

"You're stronger than him, Joe," Logan said. "You can ignore him, I know you can. You can't let him win. You can't let the island win."

Joe wasn't so sure about it, but Logan seemed pretty firm, so he smiled and nodded. "Yeah, it'd still help if I could kick his ass," he said, although he'd never do that either.

Logan just laughed a little and sat back up.

"What? You don't think I would?" Joe asked, looking over at Logan with a small smirk. He wouldn't, but he didn't want other people to know that.

"Honestly?" Logan snorted. "I don't think you could. I think part of you is always going to be dedicated to him, Joe, even if he was a total bastard. That's just how it works sometimes."

"Guess so," Joe admitted with a little shrug, not looking too convinced. "Never know, though. Never really got the chance." He'd gotten plenty of chances, he'd just never taken them.
