Logan's head had stopped pounding less then a day after the accident. He'd taken a hard hit, but he was alright, and other then a small cut and a bruise that was turning a pleasant shade of purple, Logan wasn't looking much worse the wear. He was sleeping a lot though, more then usual even, but he wasn't sure he could blame the bump for that. No, sometimes Logan just didn't like getting out of bed.

For the last hour or so though, he hadn't really been sleeping, just sort of drifting in and out. One minute he was awake and almost ready to get up, and the next he'd roll onto his side and find that perfectly warm spot on the bed... the one that made it all too easily to let his eyes drift shut again. Neil was out, probably walking Max, so there was no one nagging him, no one to tell him to stop being lazy and to go eat something. It was nice, and Logan planned on enjoying it just a little longer.

He'd found that spot again, and he was just about to settle back in for at least another ten minutes of lazing about... when someone said his name.

No, not just someone.

Logan would have recognized that voice anywhere, anytime. He new what it sounded like on film and on the phone, and he knew what it sounded like when the older man was there. Logan knew Aaron Echoll's voice better then anyone else's.

Eyes snapping open, Logan sat up almost instantly, his body tense as he listened. Maybe he'd imagined it... maybe it had been a dream,

But no, there it was again.

"Logan?"

Getting to his feet, Logan slowly walked to the door, peering around it with a worried look. His chest was tight and he was pretty sure he was sweating, but he made sure not to let anything show on his face as he headed outside and looked around. Making his way around to the back of the hut, he could feel his heart pounding in his chest. "Dad?" he said quietly, unsure and uneasy.

And there he was, Aaron Echolls, not a foot away. He had that look on his face, angry and pinched so tight the the lines in his face seemed deeper then usual. He took a step closer and Logan instantly took a step back, right onto someone's foot.

"Maybe I was what? Sleepwalking? Dreaming it? I wasn't dreaming, I was awake. I know I was. Neil, I swear, I saw him," Logan insisted, but even he didn't look so sure anymore.

"He wasn't there, Logan!" I repeat, confusion and a little bit of panic welling up 'cause what the fuck is wrong with him? "I've been outside this whole time. Don't you think I'd have heard him? Seen him?"

Logan leaned back against the hut and combed his fingers through his hair, face screwed up in confusion. "I swear, Neil, It was so real. He was there, and he was pissed. His face was... He said my name and... It was so real."

"Hey, it's okay," I say, stepping closer to him cautiously, my hand reaching out for him but not touching, like he might lash out or something. Knowin' Logan, that's a pretty likely scenario. "Logan, maybe... Maybe you fucked up your head worse than you thought... Or, I don't know. This place fucks with people, you know? I just- I really don't think anyone was here."

"My head's fine," Logan said firmly, looking down at the stupd race car pajamas he was wearing and shaking his head.

"Okay," I nod, not really sure I believe him 'cause seein' things that aren't there's usually a sign something isn't right.

It's really fucked up that the race cars seem normal to me now.

"You wanna go back inside?" I offer, catching myself looking around. So yeah, maybe now I'm a little paranoid. Logan doesn't need anymore shit. We don't need anymore shit, and Aaron Echolls would bring more shit along with him than I think I'm prepared to handle.

"Yeah," Logan said quietly, looking around again and then heading back inside. His whole body was on edge still as he sat back down on the bed, staring at his feet as he tried to think.

I follow him inside, hanging back a little as I watch him sit down on the bed 'cause I feel like maybe I should give him some space or... somethin'. But after a while I move closer, reaching out a hand and hesitantly combing my fingers through his hair. I look away for a second, just so he won't see my face all twisted up with worry, and then look back down at him.

"He wasn't there, Logan. It's okay," I murmur, a completely fucking useless thing to say, but it's all I've got right now.

"I'm fine," Logan insisted. "Sit down, you're making me nervous hovering over me like that," he told Neil, patting the bed and moving to rest back against the headboard.

He offered a weak sort of smile and draped his arms around his knees as he leaned forward.

"'m not hovering," I protest, trying not to sulk as I climb up onto the bed next to him. I try not to touch him so much, 'cause then he'll just snap at me for fuckin' clinging or whatever, but whenever he gets like this it seems to be all I wanna do. And I won't lie and say that a lot of it isn't selfish, wantin' comfort myself as much as I want to give it, but whatever.

"You think I'm crazy?" he asked Neil, looking uncomfortable.

"Of course he does," he heard Aaron laugh. He didn't have to look over to see there was no one beside him though, he could tell they were still alone just by looking at Neil's face. "Look at you, acting like a baby who's seen a ghost. Is that what being here's done to you? Is that what fooling around with this kid has done to you? I know you've always been childish, but I don't remember you being this much of a..."

"You want to go get something to eat?" he asked Neil, voice a bit tighter then he meant to let it be. He kept his eyes fixed on the other boy though, not daring to glance at anything else.

"No," I answer with as much confidence as I can muster, "I don't- I don't know what the fuck's going on, but you're not crazy, okay?"

He goes quiet again and I just sorta watch him, finally giving in and resting my hand on his arm. "Yeah, okay," I nod, offering him a small smile.

Logan didn't say anything, he just got up and started digging around for clothes.

"Looking for the perfect dress to wear today?"

"Fuck you," Logan snapped before he could stop himself, looking embarrassed and grabbing a pair of jeans and a shirt from the pile of laundry on the floor.

Climbing off the bed, I stand there waiting, rubbing a tired hand over my face and trying to figure out what the fuck is going on and why Logan all the sudden sounds like a crazy person. I startle at the sound of his voice- at how harsh and brittle it sounds, my hands dropping away from my eyes and I look down at him completely fucking confused.

"What? What the fuck, I'm just standing here, Logan."

Logan took a deep breath. "Not... You didn't do anything. I'm sorry, alright? Let's just... go to the compound. I don't want to be in here."

I just sorta stare at him for a long moment, like I can look into his head and see what's going on in there. But I can't. All I can do is nod and say, "Alright. We'll go," trying not to look worried 'cause he almost never acts like he'd rather be someplace other than here... at home. So yeah, that's kind of worrying and kind of confusing, and I'm thinkin' maybe he did bash his head a little harder than we thought.

I reach out and offer my hand, 'cause that's somethin' I just automatically do now, but I'm still not sure if he'd rather I left him be.

Logan took Neil's hand without pause and quickly lead them out of the hut, relieved when he didn't hear anything.

On the way out, I look to make sure Max is still closed up behind the newly finished fence, just 'cause I'm not used to it bein' so easy to leave him behind. He's got his fence and a tarp for shade and a bowl of water and he's completely ignoring whatever the fuck is going on with Logan and me.

Turning back to look at Logan, I squeeze his hand just a little, hurrying to keep up 'cause it's like he can't get outta there fast enough. "You sure you're okay?" I ask, knowing he's not and knowing he'll tell me he's fine anyway. Don't expect much else, not until he decides its time for a breakdown or somethin'. That's usually the only time he actually ever tells me anything.

"I'm fine, I told you... I'm just hungry or something. Didn't bother eating last night," Logan sighed, squeezing Neil's hand in return. "Don't worry, alright? I'm fine."

"Please tell me I'm not gonna have to start force-feedin' you, 'cause I'm really not sure I want to get that obnoxious about the whole nagging you into lookin' after yourself thing," I tease him, but it's a little awkward. It's fucking tough as hell lookin' after someone else when you can hardly look after yourself. But I can't help it. I can't help wanting to make sure he's okay. And it's still a completely new feeling, but I think I'm gettin' there.

"I eat when I'm hungry," Logan shrugged. "You don't need to worry about me," he insisted, leaning in and kissing the other boy's cheek.

He waited for the voice to say something... but nothing came. The silence was pretty damn blissful.

"'m not worryin'," I insist and lean into him a little. "'s just, if not eatin' makes you see shit that isn't there, you should probably, you know... eat." I flash him a smile, just the barest little lift of one corner of my mouth, and lace our fingers together more comfortably.

"I'm not seeing... whatever," Logan said, Pulling his hand away and shoving it deep in his pocket as he walked.

"That's not what I meant. Just- whatever," I sigh, folding my arms over my chest but staying close as I scowl down at my feet.

"I know, it's fine... Look, I'm sorry I'm being so... whatever. I'll feel better after I eat something, alright?" Logan assured Neil, glancing over with an apologetic look.
